The Father Vincent S. Sikora Council #7992 completed its 27th home, 1,100 SF in size, in one of the poorest counties in our country from May 28-Jun 9th (including travel). The council started with a crew of 19 from the Church of Nativity and teamed up with an additional 11 people (including 2 cooks from Nebraska) to complete the build. Despite challenging weather from the start with rain on the first two days, some very heavy at times, the council was still able to finish a day ahead of schedule.

The house was built in McCreary County, KY, located in the SE part of the State, about 570 miles from Burke.

The council had two crews to ensure it was able to do more of the finishing work and at the
same time achieve two benefits of reducing the home costs and getting the
family in earlier. The goal was to complete the house with plumbing,
electrical, sheetrock, doors, trim, painting and kitchen cabinets, and the council
succeeded!

Pictured below are the Brother Knights who were part of the Appalachia Crew: Dave Perales (20th home), Pat Colton (24th home), Eric Colton (15th home), Jerry Leonard (21st home), Pat Bradshaw (20th home), Thinh Nguyen (21st home), Bill Gordon (19th home), Mark Sawyer (10th home), James Kocsis (5th home), Paul Piraino (12th home), Bob Colella (10th home), Brian Barry (4th home), Bill Finerfrock (3rd home), Peter Zolper (2nd home), Bob Gousy (2nd home) and Bob Corsi (29th home). Two new Brothers, Luis Santano and Mark Yurgil, and a parishioner, Chris Bauer, joined the crew for the first time. The council recognized Jerry Leonard for his 19 years and 21 homes and his incredible leadership as this was his last deployment.
