The Pilgrim Virgin Million Rosary Project is an ideal time to focus on the various possibilities for Marian devotions for all Catholics.  It’s also time to reflect on the sometimes confusing situation I call “Dueling Marys.”

This occurs when people who are devoted to Our Lady of Fatima start feeling that Our Lady of Guadalupe is intruding on Our Lady of Fatima’s turf.  It’s almost like people feel that they are cheating on Our Lady of Fatima if they begin a devotion to Our Lady of Lourdes.

Mary is Mary, the Blessed Mother of Our Lord Jesus Christ.  We who love her have tried to honor her by conferring titles on her to remember her appearances to us to remind us of our need to follow her Son.  These titles are opportunities to explore and accept the graces of each of these private revelations and use them as Jesus and Mary intended – Union with them in the Church Triumphant in Heaven.

The Message – Learn about all of the Marian Apparitions and pray that you will grow closer to her Son with every prayer.

The Silver Rose began its journey through Virginia tomorrow, Sunday August 8, with the hand-off at St. Mary's Church in Maryland and the first ceremony at St. Thomas a Becket Parish in Reston (Council 9781). Its progress through the Jurisdiction will be highlighted on the Web Site with pictures and fun facts. MORE
