44 Star Councils are honored at October 2015 state meeting

Grand Knights of the 44 Virginia councils which won Star Council awards were honored at the Virginia state meeting in Annandale on October 2, 2015. The BIG photo of all the recipients is shown above.

October 3, 2015 - The fall quarterly meeting of the Virginia Knights of Columbus was held at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church elementary school in Annandale, Virginia.  The six and a half hour meeting squeezed a lot into a short period of time: aside from the usual reports from state officers. awards were handed out to councils winning important awards for their activities during the 2014-2015 fraternal year.

A total of 44 councils in the state won the Star Council Award last year, and the award plaques were presented to the grand knights or their representatives (see photo above).

A special award was given to past state deputy J. P. McCusker, who retired this summer after several years of service as a Management and Program Consultant for the Supreme Council.

Past state deputy Tony Fortunado surprised virtually everyone, announcing that a new job with Wells Fargo Bank will require him to move out of the state (he'll be just a few hours up I-95 in Philadelphia).

Once again, breakout sessions on programs and membership were very well attended and got high marks for allowing lots of discussion and interaction, and very productive discussions about how to improve council success.

The gathering also included the annual meeting of Virginia Knights of Columbus Charities, Inc. (VKCCI).
