Virginia Knights join in honoring long-time Chairman of the National Right to Life Committee, Geline Williams

Mrs. Geline Williams, who retired in April as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Right to Life Committee, will be honored during a Mass of Thanksgiving to be celebrated at St. Mary Church in Richmond at 6:00 p.m. on August 27, 2015,

Mrs. Williams was first elected Chairman of the NRLC Board in 1981, and had been reelected to the post in all of the years since then. She decided earlier this year that it was time to yield the post to a new Chairman, Lynda Bell, of North Carolina.

Williams and her late husband Alex were founding members of the Virginia Society for Human Life in 1967, and they were both instrumental in the founding of NRLC in 1968. Mrs. Williams is a former mayor of Richmond (1998-1990), and also served on the city council.

The parish communities of St. Mary and St. Bridget are sponsoring the Mass, which will involve parishioners from both parishes. Father Michael Renninger, the pastor of St. Mary's, will be the presider and Msgr. William Carr, the pastor at St. Bridget's, will be the homilist.

The Knights of Columbus is encouraging Virginia Knights to participate.

The Mass will be followed by a reception in the Parish Commons at St. Mary's.
