Past State Deputy Bill McCarthy passed away on May 8, 2015.Bill was Virginia State Deputy during the 2010-2011 Fraternal Year. He had been suffering from pancreatic and liver cancer for nearly a year.
State Executive Secretary Kelly Mortensen issued the following statement:
My Brother Knights and Ladies,
It is with great sadness that I must report the passing of Past State Deputy William J. “Bill” McCarthy.
Colonel Bill McCarthy was a proud American, a patriot, a Knight of Columbus, and more importantly a loving and devoted husband and father. He is survived by his wife Joan, four children and eight grandchildren.
Bill has been a pillar of the Virginia Knights for many years and his Council and Assembly members, their families and Saint Patrick Parish were all very dear to him.
During his very successful year as State Deputy he highlighted the meaning and power of praying the rosary and led Virginia in more than 1 million rosaries prayed to our Blessed Mother.
A Catholic Gentleman to everyone he encountered, he will be missed. Please pray the rosary in the next few days for Bill and his family and all he brought to our lives.
