2015 Community Activity Award

Appalachia Home Building

This project consisted of building one home, approximately 1,000 square feet, in the heart of Appalachia.  The home included three bedrooms, one bath, kitchen, and common living/ eating area.

Father Sikora Council 7992 in Burke and Nativity Parish raised $52,000 for the construction of the home by holding a garage sale and art auction to help defray the over $3,000 in costs for logistics support of the Council crew. Approximately 4,102 volunteer hours were involved, which included 2,406 hours for the deployed crew and 1,696 hours for the various fund raising activities to support the building effort. This project was a featured story in our Knights of Columbus - Columbia magazine in November 2014.
